My name is Garrett Farnsworth and I have a total of six people in my family! I am the youngest of three older sisters.
My hobbies include swimming, basketball, traveling, TV & movies, video games, and collecting key chains!
I really enjoy getting to make new friends with people from all over the world. I like to try new things
and experience different ways of life. I think that there is so much to learn from different cultures and so many good
foods to try!
Born in Mexico City in 1998 my life of travel, adventure, and exploration began.
From there I went on to Argentina, Arkansas, Shenzhen & Shanghai China, Thailand, Peru, Japan, Idaho, and now Utah.
I was the only child born in Mexico, which was a first for our family as all of my three sisters were born in the United States. My family had moved to Mexico for business related reasons with my father’s job and I lived there for a year where I enjoyed soaking in the Mexico sun as a baby.
Back to the topFrom Mexico my family moved to Argentina for a year and I sadly don't remember much of it having been so young. The pictures do help to make up for the lack of memory.
Back to the topFrom Argentina my family came back to the United States for seven years. I spent my early years as a boy from the ages of three to ten in the rural area of Bentonville, Arkansas. My father was working for Walmart who has their headquarters located there. I enjoyed getting to spend a lot of time outdoors, exploring forests and nearby farms. Playing with friends and beginning to explore my love of adventure, video games and exploring.
Back to the topIn fourth grade I moved to Shenzhen, China where I attended Shekou International School. I lived in Shenzhen, China for three years and Shanghai, China for two years. In Shanghai I attended the Shanghai American School Pudong Campus. This was one the most impactful moves of my life and would forever change the way I saw and thought about the world. From different political ideologies, cultural differences, food, and education. I was able to make friends from all over the world here and really get to interact with things that I was not yet used to but would come to love.
Back to the topIn freshmen year of high school I moved to Bangkok Thailand where I lived for two years. This move was rather difficult for me as it was hard to say goodbye to friends, food, and general life in China. I went through a bit of a rough period here where I began to feel the effects of moving around so much and had to learn to cope with this. I struggled to make friends here and as an indirect result struggled in my schooling. I learned the importance of having a close relationship with my family and developed more who I was as a person.
Back to the topDuring the summer before my Junior year of high school my family moved to Peru. This was another really big adjustment for me as I was not only in a different country, but I was in a different continent. I attended International school Franklin Delano Roosevelt there for the rest of my high school. I made a lot of great friends here and was able to enjoy learning about Peruvian culture, the amazing food, and took to learning Spanish.
Back to the topWhile living in Peru I was fortunate enough to prepare to serve my mission and was called to the Japan Tokyo South Mission. I was incredibly blessed to serve in the remarkable country of Japan and to learn Japanese. I served in five areas, Fujisawa, Machida, Kofu, Hibarigaoka, and Atsugi. I will never forget my time there and the life long friendships created made there.
Back to the topRexburg is an interesting place that sparks an immediate response in people when they first hear it. One of either love or hate is what I have come to find. It is blistering cold in the winters and there isnt a whole lot to do but due to great friendships I was able to make the most of my time there and came to love it. The nature and spirit of Ricks are a blessing to the students of BYU Idaho and I sincercly enjoyed my education there.
Though I enjoyed Rexburg after a year I thought to pursue a different path of education and transfered to BYU and am currently preparing to apply
for the Information Systems program at the Marriot School of Business there. I have enjoyed Provo, Utah and the education that BYU has to offer with
many excellent programs and people to work with.
Where my life will lead to after Provo, I have no idea but I await to find out where the rest of my life
leads and the people I can't wait to meet.
